A "trial run"

The Mr.'s cousin just had engagement reception in the very venue that we choose.
Here are some thoughts:
- menu portion is soo tiny
- the room is proportioned weirdly. It is elongated and short on the width.
- acoustic music makes the atmosphere weird :/
- the room looks cold and not warm. I might want some par light to make the atmosphere warmer
- what kind of games to liven up the reception?
- music selection
- band selection
- wedding gown
- wedding photographer and videographer

My friend just got married at the church that we chose as well, just one day before the Mr's cousin's engagement. Here are some thoughts:
- the church looked kind of vacant. Make sure ushers "herd" the guests to occupy the front seats
- gotta make sure the church doors are closed for the "sacred" atmosphere
- the choir has gotta be full
- the choir's outfit gotta be matching
- go to this Saturday's mass to hear the Cecilia choir in action
- book them
- give them the song list and song in MP3 (tell Sinta to do this?)

The house was just used for the Mr's gathering with his colleagues. It was kinda uneasy since the house is still full of dirt and construction leftover :/ Here are some thoughts:
- take care of the water meter - give copy of my ID to the foreman
- buy the water heater ariston nano from Karunia - call Karunia, is it ready stock?
- fix or buy new exhaust
- make appointment with the gorden man
- repaint walls, paint teralis, cabinet, chair and table
- install deck

We saw the church secretary a week ago, and realize that we're still far along from getting all the marriage paperwork done. Arrghhh...
- legalisir ktp, kk and akta lahir di balaikota
- ke RT/RW minta surat pernyataan akan menikah
- ke Kelurahan minta surat pengantar dan N1-N4
- Surat keterangan belum pernah menikah
- semua dibawa ke kecamatan untuk minta stempel
- sertifikat KPP dari Santo Petrus
- fotokopi SKBRI papa

Oh, the never ending task of picking out gowns and photos..

OK. Time to unravel my messy mind .... *drumroll*

To do list for today:
+ nagih nota
+ bikin nota
+ go to Sampurna photo, dad asks me to check them out.
+ go to Mammoth right away, compare, and when all looks good, pay downpayment for photo
+ try out gowns in Mammoth
+ go to Natural, pick up stickers
+ go to Hendrik, try out gowns

Healthy drinks

I'm dreaming of making healthy drinks like pictured available all day long in my new home.
Aren't they pretty? (I realize that my motivation in almost all the things that I do is how pretty they will look)

There are all sorts of combination, from citrusy fruits, berries, cucumber, melons, et cetera.

flavored water

 You can infuse all sorts of herbs into the drinks as well, such as basil, citrus leaves (they smell soo good!), rosemary, et cetera.

Basil = kemangi

Cilantro = daun ketumbar
Rosemary = ?
Sage = ?
Thyme= ?
Tarragon = ?
Mint = ?

A nice quote

I come across a nice quote few days ago that I found useful:

"Sadness is a warning for us to increase our strength.
Happiness is a warning to be careful."

How true ... in everything, there are two sides of the coin.

Whenever we feel content, happy and "on top of the world", be careful where you put your feet or else you'll slip and fall.

Whenever we feel distressed, sad and powerless, rather than sink low and get trampled we must rise and shine.

Nobody told me that life is gonna be this hard.
Every moment is a chance to make a difference.
Every decision is a test of character.
Every word and action are to be owned.

Progress

Today I finalize my invitation design. Yay!
I finished cutting 74 round stickers for the wedding favor. Yayy!
I found a bridal store with promising selection of mothers' event gowns. Yayyy!
I sms-ed the PIC for the wedding favor and got the answers I need. Yayyyy!

And I found out that the PIC whom I've been calling "mbak", turns out to be a MAN! Oops... :P

Communication skill

Dear blog,

I feel that the more I interacted with people, my communication skill gets worse *frustrated*
Or is it because I'm near my period so that I'm super sensitive and tired all the time *sigh*

And I'm wearing a corset from 1 pm (now is 6 pm!) because I thought I'm gonna be trying on dresses! *eh, no wonder I'm so senggol bacok :D*

But aside from that, I think I do have some communication skill problem:

- Do I tend to push people too hard that they don't know how to respond to me? (like in the case of the souvenir representative who stopped responding to my emails after about 8 exchanges hahaha...)
- Do I tend to do whatever I want that I want so that I confuse myself and other people? (like changing my invitation several times so that the auntie, who is the owner of the printing company, was short towards me?)
- I don't like interruption. AT ALL. If someone interrupts me when I was in the middle of doing something, I would tend to answer with a hint of anger and irritation. Hmmmm .... I have to remember that especially when I talk to my mom and dad, that I CANNOT take their love for me for granted. Yes, they will love me no matter what, but that doesn't mean that I can do whatever I want, and answer them in whatever way I choose. Sometimes we forget that our parents aren't God but just regular human :)
- And many otherssss.... Woaaaaaaa......

The silver lining is, now I realize how bad my communication skill is, and how sensitive I can get sometimes. So, now I try to pause a lot before I open my mouth.
And I keep chanting this mantra: "Love God, tolerate people" :D

My souvenir

Tadaa ... !
So this is what my wedding souvenir/favor gonna look like.
* Pardon the dirty plastic cover. I have been watering it for few days now and the watermarks are slowly building up *
I hand cut all the stickers and attach it myself *weeks of torture for my poor fingers, oohhh...

And yes, I finally print the two stickers that I posted before. They only cost Rp 200 for a set per souvenir compared to Rp 500 for having the souvenir vendor print out a thank you note. So it's a win, and to the printing it goes!

And finally, I got me some new money bills so I can start on my money bouquet!

But of course before all that, I gotta decide on my wedding gown (I'm gonna meet a very promising vendor on Mondy, so fingers crossed that I will find "The One").

And, I gotta start deciding whom to hire for photography and videography!!!!!

Beside freaking out about all the things I have to do and being excited of how the souvenir turns out, today I went to two invitation vendors and got total headache for thinking about what I want, what the parents want, and what the cost would be. And still, nothing set in stone for the invitation.

Arghhh!

My first attempt at mashed potatoes ~

Here it is!
My first attempt at mashed potatoes!
Yay!

I thought that prior to me being a housewife, it would be good practice for me to learn cooking for our future household. The Mr. didn't get to try it today though. Maybe next time, and it's giving me time to improve too :D

By the by, here's what the Mr. cooked for me in the past: Indonesian fried rice!
Sweet, isn't he?
He had cooked for me twice.
I once uploaded this pic on my Blackberry and a girlfriend said that she envy of me! Haha...

PS: it tasted pretty good, too ...

Gift tags that make me go craziiiiiee

They say that writing unravels the disorganized mind.
Disorganized mind = me
Therefore, write I shall! :D

So. There is a gift tag situation that makes me turn my mind upside down, inside out.

These things come free with every invitation order:

- Thank you tag
- Tag for guests names and wishes

If I end up doing the things below (pot label and souvenir label), then I don't need Thank you tag.
Instead, I can ask the printing company to print out a special butterfly shaped wish cards to be hung on cherry trees on my reception.

- Label on the pot of my plant souvenirs. How much does it cost, though?

- Label for my outside souvenir: if I do this, then I don't have to print out gift tags. How much does it cost?

Printing my own label stickers will only be worth it if it's less than Rp 500 combined for one unit of souvenir.
Otherwise, for Rp 500 I can have the souvenir company personalized their packaging for me.

Oh, my biggest thanks for the internet, which allows me to download and personalize these beautiful labels! Muaaachhhhh! *that's the sound of a wet, sloppy kiss from me to the internet*
